I stumbled across this convenience store last summer.  The summer before, I remember it open.  Sometimes convenience just doesn’t last.

The HDR was shot handheld and I give thanks to Photomatix for the awesomeness it does with alignment.

Over the next little bit, I’ll probably be posting the images from my adventure with a Drive-In last March.  A few of the HDR photos around the Mustang Drive-In were posted here but were never re-posted after the crash.  So, what I am essentially doing is trying to get Urban HDR in order and planned out to ensure success for 2010.   I have a lot on the go, a lot of changes happening in my life right now and I am dying to get out with my camera.  But before that, I do need to plan out schedules and get everything good to go.  I appreciate you stopping by here to check out the images and I am going to do my best to stick to images posted ever other day!

I sometimes feel as if I am backed into a corner, but what we can now accomplish with a digital camera pulls me though.  Having such freedom for creativity in photography is eye opening and soul soothing.   I am about to pursue my loves full time! This HDR photo in London, Ontario here is sort of significant of my 2009.  I’m looking to breakout and take the risk. Risking a lot, but feeling as if I’ll never know anything unless I try.

An HDR photograph taken in Toronto, just outside the Kensington Market! I converted it to black and white because I am pretty much in love with black and white HDR these days.   Tomorrow, if you come back – I’ll post the colour image.  I’m going to post something in the actual blog here soon too about an idea for this place come 2010 – it will be about using our imagination.

I know that snow is going to hit us eventually. I am not a big fan of snow.  I feel like I can ease myself into it with a picture taken last year. I’m pretty sure this photograph was up on Urban HDR at some point but lost in the shuffle.  Here it is again!

This is one of the photos that got me wanting to start this HDR photography blog.  The image is one of my favorites and I always come back to it for motivation.  It was on the photoblog long about, but with the crash issue in May or June (I forget now) I lost that page.  This HDR is also the first time I ever tried to tone map an HDR twice. I love doing it to some HDR pictures because the image becomes so strong.  If you’re wondering more about tone mapping your HDR, check out this short HDR Tutorial.

This is a building that is now long gone.  It’s a parking lot today. Is your downtown core becoming one big parking lot?

I grabbed this HDR image in Vancouver at the newer convention centre.  I love the architecture and landscape architecture you get here.  I felt special within this space – like anything was possible for me.  I try and tap into that feeling daily and lately, as returning to my call centre job, it’s been tough.  I just remind myself that I’ve made my decision.  I am trying to break in 2 months.  So I am trying to push hard during my free time.  It’s very hard but no one said it was easy.  I keep trying! The handheld HDR technique really allows for some interesting experiments. This image here is approaching a church. It makes me think that I am intoxicated, and everything has a bit of a surreal feel to it.  I’m approaching the church because I am about to confess.  If the photograph was fully sharp, I wouldn’t get this effect and it would have a totally different feel.

Shot this photo back in April of 2008 on the first London Photowalk. It was pretty awesome and we’re going through the exact opposite transition into fall these days.  The clouds were awesome that day and this HDR photograph shows it.
